About Life In Abundance School of Counseling

The Life In Abundance School of Counseling (LIASC) exists to provide its students the training necessary to complete a Christian counseling degree or certification. We believe the harvest is great but the workers are few. LIASC equips those who are called into the ministry of counseling by offering Biblically-based training in theology and psychology, as well as clinical training and experience.

Statement of Faith

ARTICLE ONE:

We believe the Bible is the inerrant, inspired Word of the Living God. The Bible is the final authority on all matters of life, faith and practice.

ARTICLE TWO:

We believe in the Trinitarian God of the Bible, one in substance, three in persons, consisting of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

ARTICLE THREE:

We believe that the Son of God, the second person of the God-head, took upon Himself the form of man, becoming the God-man, with two distinct natures, and by His atoning work through His death, burial and resurrection has made salvation possible for man by His free grace.

ARTICLE FOUR:

We believe that salvation is an act of God’s saving grace by the work of the Holy Spirit in regenerating and converting the hearts of men by His free gift of saving faith.

ARTICLE FIVE:

We believe in the personal return of Jesus Christ, in eternal damnation in a literal hell for the wicked, and in everlasting life, in heaven, with the living God for the righteous.

ARTICLE SIX:

We believe that there is but one Head of the church, the Lord Jesus Christ. It is the responsibility of the church and its institutions to maintain His Lordship over their activities, and not to submit that right to any individual, corporate body, governmental agency or head of state, as long as we conduct ourselves as ambassadors of Christ and live as lawful citizens.

ARTICLE SEVEN:

We believe that every area of life is to be subject to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. We adhere to a world and life view which seeks to make the Lord Jesus Christ preeminent in all things.

Statement of Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality

ARTICLE ONE:

We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as a male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God.(Gen 1:26-27.) Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person.

ARTICLE TWO:

We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. (Gen 2:18-25.)

ARTICLE THREE:

We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other. (1 Cor 6:18; 7:2-5; Heb 13:4.) We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. (1 Thess 4:3-4)

ARTICLE FOUR:

We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, and use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God.
(Matt 15:18-20; 1 Cor 6:9-10.)

ARTICLE FIVE:

We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of Life In Abundance as part of the local Body of Christ, and to provide a biblical role model to the Life In Abundance counselees and the community, it is imperative that all persons employed by Life In Abundance in any capacity, or who serve as volunteers, agree to and abide by this Statement of Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality.
(Matt 5:16, Phil 2:14-16, 1 Thess 5:22.)

ARTICLE SIX:

We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. (Acts 3:19-21; Rom 10:9-10; 1 Cor 6:9-11.)

ARTICLE SEVEN:

We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity.
(Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31.) Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the doctrines of Life In Abundance.

Statement of Final Authority for Matters of Faith and Conduct

The statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and inerrant Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of Life In Abundance’s faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, our Board of Directors is Life In Abundance’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application.
